Position: Product Manager
Location: Vancouver, BC
Reporting To: Marketing Manager
Salary Range: $70-85k
Description:
Task Tools & Abrasives has been providing quality, innovative hardware products, services and solutions to customers across North America since 1968. The company has a solid foundation of success, and is poised for aggressive growth across Canada and the US. As we are about to implement a major re-branding initiative, the Product Manager will play an integral role in the marketing department’s business plans and growth expectations.
Role & Purpose:
The primary responsibility of the Product Manager is to represent the voice of a key portfolio of products in all matters. He/She will lead the creation of strategy and the implementation and execution of annual marketing plans to ensure the product portfolio and business objectives are met both in the short and long term. The successful individual will bring extensive experience within the hardware industry on branded consumer goods and have a passion for developing new products. This position provides an opportunity to play a key role in shaping a new marketing team as the company transitions to a marketing lead approach to doing business.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and execute annual marketing plans which include undertaking competitive analysis, price assessment and product mix reviews to identify opportunities in such areas as cost improvement, range rationalization, new product development, pricing and promotion.
• Identify and project manage the development of a variety of new product projects which may include line extensions, genuine innovation, private label and new segments within their relevant portfolio of products.
• Work with international suppliers to generate new product ideas for promotional flyers and catalogues.
• Creatively contribute in the development and execution of marketing communications which may include PR, and tradeshows.
• Work with Sales Managers within Canada and the US to develop growth plans and initiatives which meet the Customers needs within the store environment.
• Manage and be accountable for their portfolio’s balance sheet, sales budget and marketing budget.
• Build an extensive knowledge, insights and fact base of their portfolio, its competitors, customers and consumers.

Required Skills:
• 5+ years brand/marketing experience in hardware products demonstrating progressive advancement and increased responsibilities.
• Demonstrate expertise in strategic thinking and the creation of successful business plans.
• Considerable experience in all facets of project development and managing cross functional teams.
• Successful results in product development and the creation of insightful go to market programs with particular emphases on merchandising solutions.
• Strong planning skills with the ability to establishing key priorities and hit key deliverable dates.
• Experience working closely with sales teams and customers to achieve business goals.
• Must be comfortable with numbers and experienced with establishing price strategies.
• Would be an advantage to have experience working with Asian suppliers and be able to speak Mandarin.
• Demonstrate strong negotiation skills.
• Be an initiator in a team environment.
